#BreaktheBias - IWD2022

Happy International Women's day!

I was recently reading a Forbes article that listed biases at work and how they can be broken. And while I agree with the article, it focused on what "they" can do in order to #breakthebias, but what can YOU do when it is being done to you?

Bias in feedback?
Challenge it.
Provide proof and ask for it too! Don't accept vague feedback, ask for examples and ways of improvement. If the person giving feedback is invested, they won't mind having a follow up or progress discussion. Request it.

Victim of Microaggressions?
Acknowledge it.
Not the next day, not in an hour, but as soon as you can. You'd be surprised at how it is so embedded in people, that most don't know they are doing it and are apologetic.

And then there are those that do know exactly what they are doing. 😶 Check them and course correct them, with kindness and compassion, of course. 🙂

Remember your voice, stand firm in who you are and do not continue to "bow down to someone else's ignorance."
